The American University of Beirut Founders’ Day ceremony will be held on Thursday, December 3, 2015 12:00 – 1:00 pm, at AUB Assembly Hall.

Founders' Day is the annual AUB ceremony that celebrates the establishment of the University on December 3, 1866. The AUB Board of Trustees and Board of Deans will participate in the honoring of AUB’s founding fathers and the principles they and the University stand for.

In his first year as AUB’s 16th President, Dr. Fadlo R. Khuri will be this year’s Founders’ Day speaker, shedding light on the mission and role of AUB throughout its history and moving forward, and speaking on “AUB at 150: Looking forward while we look back”.

In line with tradition, winners of this year’s Founders’ Day Student Essay Contest will be announced and the first-place winner will read their prizewinning essay.  This year, student competitors were asked to reflect on the role that AUB should play in Lebanon, the region, and the world in the decades to come.

Classes will be suspended during the ceremony as the event is open to the whole AUB community.
