ALHOSN University & Bloom Management Consulting organize workshop on problem-solving skills

ALHOSN University’s Training & Continuing Education Center will be organizing an evening workshop on ‘problem-solving skills’ in collaboration with Bloom Management Consulting Center today (Tuesday, November 1, 2011) from 5 to 9 pm at The Armed Forces Officers Club and Hotel in Abu Dhabi.

The workshop will be facilitated by Dr. Tariq Ali Al Habib, a professor and psychiatry consultant with a Medical Degree from King Saud University’s Faculty of Medicine and a holder of advanced degrees in psychiatry from Saudi Arabia, Ireland and Britain. He will tackle the essence of problems from a procedural perspective and conduct hands-on training activities on how to think about and solve problems.

The workshop will be divided into a theoretical and a practical session. The theoretical portion will discuss the philosophical foundations of the notion of problems from the standpoint of psychology, specific factors that lead to the emergence of problems, and problem patterns. The practical session, on the other hand, will cover the formulation of a problem, its procedural resolution, the difference between negative and positive problems, and key concepts in the problem-solving process.

Considerable research has been conducted in the field of both clinical and counseling psychology in order to explore patterns of creative thinking among individuals. Results have shown several features of creative thinking, most notably the ability to predict problems, abstract thinking on the best approaches to realistic application based on various principles learned and practiced from procedural problem formulation, and assumptions and alternatives to realistic solutions.

Prof. Al Habib visited ALHOSN University yesterday to meet with Prof. Abdul Rahim Sabouni, CEO and Vice Chancellor of ALHOSN University, and to discuss various academic matters. Prof. Sabouni handed a commemorative gift to Prof. Al Habib on the occasion of his visit.
