ADUKG hosts London Business School Professor Costas Markides

Abu Dhabi Knowledge Group launched yesterday (Monday) two workshops titled “Wining with Strategy” and “Strategic Innovation” hosting one of the world’s top 50 business thinkers of 2011, and the Professor of Strategy and Entrepreneurship at London Business School Costas Markides.

The 2-day workshops will highlight how businesses can gain a competitive edge through strategic innovation, how to execute strategies efficiently, understand the barriers to proper strategy execution, learn the importance of creative thinking, and how to maximize the potential of new ideas by overcoming mental models.  

Commenting on the importance of the workshops, Dr. Ahmad Badr CEO of Abu Dhabi University Knowledge Group stressed the Group’s keenness in hosting world renowned international experts in various fields to benefit from their experience and allow workshop participants the great opportunity of discussing vital business topics with these experts firsthand. He pointed out that senior executives, managers and business leaders participating in the 2-day workshops will be discussing innovative business strategies with one of the world’s top 50 business thinkers of 2011, Professor Costas Markides of London Business School.  

Dr. Bader explained that the workshops will highlight the importance of thinking creatively about strategic positioning of companies and organizations. “Topics will also focus on the significance of supporting strategy with proper organizational environment, how assumptions constrain creativity and how to overcome them, in addition to discussing the fundamental principles of strategy, the importance of innovation in strategy and how to achieve it while avoiding the strategic mistakes that all entrepreneurs make”, concluded Dr. Badr.

The dream began with the Charter of Abu Dhabi University in the year 2000, After three years of planning, the university opened its doors in September 2003, to an entering class of 1,000 students on its two campuses in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain. Unlike other colleges and universities in the UAE, ADU undertook the measures necessary to ensure that all of the degree programs it would offer had secured accreditation from the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in advance of any students enrolling in them.
