ADM Holds Humanitarian Initiatives to Live up to Its Social Responsibility

The Abu Dhabi City Municipality has held a variety of humanitarian and communal initiatives reflecting the values of the 2017 "Year of Giving" initiative declared by UAE President HH Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The initiative also epitomises the Municipality's commitment to the principles of social responsibility and reflects its keen attention to disseminate the culture giving and solidarity amongst community members.

In this context, the Abu Dhabi City Municipality distributed a large number of food baskets to needy families in Mohammed bin Zayed City to support all community segments, especially low-income segments to bring them happiness. Supporting these families is part of the Municipality’s priorities and strategy, and echoes its mission of assisting all community segments, supporting communal initiatives, and instilling the values of giving and cooperation among all individuals.

As part of its efforts to promote the culture of reading among all community members, especially children and school students, the Municipality organised "Reading a Story" initiative. It covered various activities and competitions involving many children such as puppet theatre, free reading, face painting and cartoon characters to cheer up children and draw smiles on their faces. During the event, students of the Zayed Foundation for Humanitarian Care and Special Needs presented a special performance at the puppet theatre. To encourage participants to attend and utilise such events, and to recognise their contributions to bringing success to the event, the Municipality presented various prizes to the winners of the competitions organised during the event.

The event aims at encouraging children and students to read and enhance the values of cooperation & teamwork among them. The Municipality reiterated its keenness to instil positive values and hone skills & talents of children at an early age.
