Abu Dhabi University to launch 2nd annual “International Conference on Organization and Management” today

Around 200 professors, scholars, researchers and experts are set to convene today (Sunday 20th of November) at the Park Rotana Hotel in Abu Dhabi, for the 2nd annual “International Conference on Organization and Management 2016 (ICOM)” which aims to shed more light on the best international sustainable business practices, innovative initiatives, strategies, trends and common challenges. Organized by Abu Dhabi University’s College of Business Administration in strategic collaboration with the Asia Academy of Management, ICOM 2016 presents more than 150 research papers representing 27 countries from around the world.

Dr. Sherine Farouk Assistant Provost for Academic Projects, and part of ICOM’s organizing committee explained that in its 2nd year ICOM 2016 focuses on exploring a defined set of sustainable business practices which national, trans-national and multinational organizations across the globe should implement to leverage their human and non-human resources for the benefit of all their stakeholders. “With the growing challenges and unique opportunities that organizations encounter in the 21st century, the need for designing and implementing innovative and most importantly sustainable business practices has never been greater; in order to enable organizations to meet the needs of its employees, customers, shareholders, suppliers, society, and various government entities. In fact, practitioners and academics have found that the development of sustainable business practices is the logical answer to many pressing problems that organizations face today, and the tool they need to achieve their vision and mission”, added Dr. Farouk.

She pointed out that the research papers that will be presented throughout the two-day conference will be divided under 12 tracks which include: strategic management, entrepreneurship & innovation management, operations and supply chain management, organizational behavior, international management, human resource management, technology & project management, leadership, marketing management, accounting, finance, and education management. “We’re also very proud to have partnered for the second year in a row with the Asia Academy of Management whose members will also chair some of the conference sessions. A specialized committee will also review and select some of the papers presented at ICOM 2016 to be published in more than 11 SCOPUS and ABDC listed international refereed journals”, said Dr. Farouk. 

The “International Conference on Organization and Management 2016 (ICOM)” hosts speakers and scholars from more than 27 countries, including Australia, Bahrain, Brazil, Colombia, Greece, Iceland, India, Indonesia, Iran, Japan, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, Malaysia, Oman, Pakistan, Qatar, Slovenia, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Tunisia, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, and United States of America.

The dream began with the Charter of Abu Dhabi University in the year 2000, After three years of planning, the university opened its doors in September 2003, to an entering class of 1,000 students on its two campuses in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain.
