Abu Dhabi City Municipality Installs 39 BPQ Units in Abu Dhabi Parks on Trial Base

Abu Dhabi City Municipality has launched a project to install barbecue units in a number of Abu Dhabi Island Parks in an effort to meet the needs of park visitors and provide a suitable recreational environment. At the same time, it contributes to maintaining parks, green spaces, trees and landscaped areas.
The project includes installing 15 barbecue units in the Dolphin Park at the Eastern Mangroves Corniche and 24 units in the authorised parks at Abu Dhabi Corniche. This project is expected to be completed in the second quarter of 2018.
So far five experimental units have been installed in the Dolphin Park 2018. The project was undertaken in view of the rising number of park visitors and their barbequing equipment at the green spaces and sidewalks, which in turn damages the agricultural assets.
From this perspective, the technical division of the City Municipal Centre has specified barbecue areas and installed some experimental units in some of Abu Dhabi Island Parks. If this experiment proves successful, the Municipality will continue to use it in different parks where barbequing is authorised.
Parks and green spaces offer a healthy environment for all, and the Municipality is keen to provide all kinds of convenience for all community members. Therefore, smoking shisha and barbequing are prohibited at all, except in some parks; namely the Heritage Park, Formal Park, Family Park, and Nuzha Parks number 1/2/3/5 at the Arabian Gulf street. These parks allow visitors to barbeque only in designated areas (stone and cement grills built as barbecue places), and not throughout the park.
The Municipality will continue its field visits, especially during public holidays, to educate the public about the negative practices, which are harmful to the environment and community in general. It urges them to contribute to the protection of gardens and green spaces to avoid incurring fines.
The Municipality calls upon the public to cooperate, and abide by the directives and guidance provided in different parks, which will contribute to preserving the urban outlook of Abu Dhabi in in a manner consistent with the international standards.
In cooperation with The Centre of Waste Management - Abu Dhabi (Tadweer), the City Municipal Centre has carried out comprehensive maintenance of the natural beauty assets in the Union Park. Works included landscaping and planting of seasonal flowers, improving the lighting, cleaning works, and pest control.
In accordance the social responsibility of the private sector and in cooperation with the City Municipal Centre, Corave Construction LLC and Lul Transport and General Contracting companies have carried out maintenance works. These works aim to improve the infrastructure and remove any sorts of public distortions in roads and public facilities without any financial compensation. It is part of the Municipality’s attempts to illustrate its commitment to the principle of community responsibility, as well as its participation in the Year of Zayed 2018 initiatives. Works include painting and replacing of paving stones for some pedestrian walkways.
The Municipality highly appreciates the national and community initiatives that reflect the solidarity, integration and the sense of social responsibility between the public and private sectors. Also, the Municipality thanks those two companies, which had carried out maintenance works on their accord, thus setting a superb and constructive example.
