The Port Zayed Authority in Abu Dhabi recently announced the completion of the automation and upgrade of its entire information infrastructure. Emirates Computers (EC) supplied the technological expertise for this project and developed the system in collaboration with the technical committee assigned to execute the project, confirmed a press release.

The project will facilitate integration of the port's information systems, enabling transactions to be implemented quicker and alleviating paper work and manual labor. The new system will also provide shipping agents with the option of instantly following up on their shipments over the internet or through an Electronic Data Interchange system (EDI).

The project included the installation of a fully integrated system to ensure the automation of all operational and administrative operations at the port and facilitate the performance of transactions.

A unified system for containers as well as special systems for purchasing, security and safety at the Abu Dhabi seaports has been developed and implemented as part of the new venture. The new system utilizes the Navis Sparcs software, used in more than 140 naval stations across the world and embraced by terminal operators worldwide as the industry standard, to ensure that loading time for a ship is reduced by eight hours.

EC is a technology company based in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Established in 1978, EC has offered services ranging from mobile communication devices to advanced supercomputers; from small LANs to integrated, multimedia WANs; and from internally developed bilingual applications to enterprise-wide management and decision support systems. — (menareport.com)
