ALBAWABA - PepsiCo, the American multinational food and beverage giant, is in talks to acquire Poppi, the prebiotic soda brand known for its 'gut-healthy' approach to the carbonated beverage market, for approximately $1.5 billion.
PepsiCo to acquire Poppi
According to sources, PepsiCo is looking to acquire Poppi, the healthy soda brand, for over $1.5 billion.
Notably, PepsiCo had planned to launch its own Soulboost functional soda but withdrew the project after it showed no signs of success. Instead, the company decided to acquire the well-known healthy soda brand, Poppi.
Functional soda is becoming increasingly popular, with more people starting to prefer it. Known for their low sugar content and probiotics that promote digestion and overall health, these beverages are gaining traction.
Poppi soda, in particular, is famous for combining just about 5g of sugar with delicious flavors, fibers, and most importantly, prebiotics for added health benefits.

PepsiCo is aiming to focus on health brands, given the fact that Coca-Cola Co. recently launched Simply Pop, a healthy prebiotic soda. Ramon Laguarta, CEO of PepsiCo, stated: “There’s a higher level of awareness in general of American consumers toward health and wellness.”
