10th October 2010  - In March 2010, Overseas Group, owned by Sheikh Baha’a R. Hariri, completed a historic merger with Globe Express Services ltd., which will rank the company in the top 100 logistics providers worldwide.  Both privately held 'mid-major' freight forwarders, with longstanding operating histories, mature corporate office networks and diversified client bases, joined forces to expand their global capabilities, build economies of scale and leverage best practices across their organization.

The new organization, operating under the official company name of Globe Express Services (Overseas Group), has emerged with 41 offices worldwide and over 750 employees, serving Asia, Europe, the Middle East and the Americas. The company’s enhanced value proposition stresses the mission embraced throughout GES: “to provide customized logistics solutions incorporating the ultimate customer service and the latest technology in a professionally rewarding environment.”

The merger sets in motion “Globe Express Services (Overseas Group)” to become a truly global, large-scale logistics provider with strong presence in the Middle East, Asia, Europe and the USA.
Moreover, it will catapult Globe Express Services (Overseas Group) position, ranking it as one of the top 100 logistics companies worldwide.

Globe Express Services (Overseas Group) Chairman, Sheikh Baha’a R. Hariri said, “Our long-term strategy is clear, as we focus on the organic growth of the business, we will also remain cognizant of strategic expansion opportunities through a disciplined acquisition strategy, that will ultimately provide unique value to customers through successful collaboration”.  Further adding, “We are very excited about the opportunities ahead, and remain focused on ways to grow strategically together while enhancing the value of our businesses.”

The newly combined company will retain the management teams from both organizations.  Mr. Gilbert Khoury, serving as President stated: “The consolidation of our assets and expertise, positions us in a unique niche market in terms of size and value added services. This will definitely boost our global freight-forwarding operations. More importantly, it will enable us to preserve our strong commitment to our now diverse global client base, all the while increasing the scale, capabilities and value of our logistics operation.”

Transportation Logistics is one of Sheikh Baha’a R. Hariri’s growing businesses.
