ALBAWABA – OpenAI, the American artificial intelligence (AI) research organization, is set to officially help the United Arab Emirates (UAE) establish one of the world’s biggest data centers.
UAE to develop one of world’s major data centers globally
The famous artificial intelligence (AI) organization will help the United Arab Emirates (UAE) develop one of the world’s largest data centers. This marks a significant step in the UAE’s technological development, the expansion of artificial intelligence (AI) in the Middle East, and OpenAI’s future plans.
Notably, the 5-gigawatt data center will be established in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The center is expected to cover approximately 10 square miles and consume about as much power as five nuclear reactors.

It is worth mentioning that the agreement was negotiated during United States (US) President Donald Trump’s visit to the Middle East and Gulf countries. According to sources, the data center project will also involve collaboration between MGX, an Abu Dhabi investment vehicle, and G42, an Abu Dhabi-based AI company.
The data center will enhance the artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and strengthen US ties in the region by expanding the role of OpenAI. However, multiple officials in the Trump administration have expressed concerns about national security, as the project may involve sharing sensitive and critical information with companies or countries that may have ties to China.
