Omani merchandise exports up 6.1 percent in 2001

The Omani Ministry of National Economy reported that Omani exports reached 3. 3 million rials ($8.5 million) in the first nine months of 2001 compared with OR 3.1 million in the corresponding period of the previous year, reported Al-Hayat . Petroleum and gas merchandise exports rose from OR 2.6 million to OR 2.8 million during the same period, a 4.7 percent growth. Omani imports hit 1.6 million rials ($8.5 billion) in the first nine months of 2001 compared with OR 1.4 million in the corresponding period of the previous year, reported Al-Hayat .
