The Oman Ministry of Heritage and Culture recently inspected the premises of four computer resellers in Oman and seized PCs uploaded with pirated software programs, as part of its intensified efforts to combat software piracy as per the provisions of the Copyright Law.

The latest inspection, conducted in coordination with Business Software Alliance (BSA), led to the seizures of four PCs uploaded with pirated software.

“The recent inspections by the Oman Ministry of Heritage and Culture will serve as yet another warning to software pirates that the Government is serious about protecting the interests of software manufacturers who spend millions of dollars in developing original software programs,” said CEO of Arabian Antipiracy Alliance (AAA), Scott Butler.

BSA is an international organization representing leading software and e-commerce developers in 65 countries around the world. Established in 1988, BSA has offices in the United States, Europe and Asia. As the voice of the software industry, BSA helps governments and consumers understand how software strengthens the economy, worker productivity and global development and how its further expansion hinges on the successful fight against software piracy and Internet theft. — (menareport.com)
