The volume of banking credit at the commercial banks in Oman stood at RO. 4011.2 million during the first quarter of 2006. The quarterly statistical bulletin issued by the research and statistics department at the Central Bank of Oman (CBO) stated that personal loan sector received RO. 1544.3 million or 38.5% of total credit, the import sector received RO. 397.2 million or 9.9% of total credit, the industry sector RO. 329.1 million or 8.2% of total credit, the services sector RO. 261 million or 6.5% and the construction sector RO. 260.1 or 6.5%.
