Norwegian firm Advanced Light, producers of ground lighting systems for airport runways and taxi areas, are reportedly seeking to establish a Middle East presence, in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

“Several European international Airports are using advanced light and we have received requests for trial runs from as far apart as Vancouver airport and Cairo international airport,” noted Kris Helgesen, spokesperson for Advanced Light.

Advanced Light was established in 1998 with the business idea to develop zero-protrusion lights for airports. The company developed a fully-flushed taxiway lights complying to international rules and regulations for use on Cat III airports. The product has been approved by the British Standards Authority and in the process of being approved by the US Federal Aviation Authority.

The advantage of having no part of the construction elevated above ground level, eliminates operational problems, increases security and allows for a far more efficient and better operational economy, according to a company press release. The company has also expressed interest in making use of the technology on roads and in connection with railroads to increase security for the traveler. — (menareport.com)
