ALBAWABA - Just a few hours prior to its scheduled debut at Miami Art Week, pictures of Jaguar’s next, and highly anticipated, electric concept vehicle surfaced online, sparking intense speculation and debate.
In keeping with the company's daring rebranding campaigns, the leaked renders show a striking bright pink car with a minimalistic appearance that deviates greatly from Jaguar's characteristic design approach.
A large front grille, an oval steering wheel, and the lack of a back windshield in favor of cameras for rear view are just a few of the daring decisions seen on the concept automobile, and instead of the conventional leaping cat and screaming jaguar emblems, the Jaguar symbol is redesigned and placed on a gold plate next to the front left wheel.
Joseph Stauble, a Jaguar representative, confirmed the leaked photos but did not confirm their accuracy, advising viewers to tune into the official reveal instead, as reported by Forbes.
Stauble, however, confirmed the brand's decision to use "Miami Pink" and "London Blue" as the concept's colors, saying both represent Miami's vibrancy and pay homage to Jaguar's British ancestry.
Last month, an advertising campaign hinted at the rebrand, which represented a major shift from Jaguar's former image. Online users responded dividedly to the commercial, which featured a variety of models without any automobiles in vibrant surroundings.
The marketing approach was criticized for being too "woke," with some drawing comparisons between the advertisement and cartoon shows like Teletubbies, Forbes report. With British publication AutoCar describing the leaked design as “completely unrelated to any Jaguar model that has gone before,” according to the Guardian.
Jaguar defended its rebranding in the face of criticism, describing it as a "bold and imaginative reinvention" that embraces a new vision while retaining classic aspects.
