New GM at Radisson SAS Hotel, Amman

Radisson SAS Hotels & Resorts, which operates eight Middle and Near East properties, has appointed Greek George Balassis as General Manager of its five-star, 260-room Amman hotel. Balassis, 42, has extensive hospitality industry experience stemming from various positions at some of the internationally acclaimed hotel chain’s core European properties, a company release stated.  

 

He joined Radisson SAS Hotels & Resorts in 1989 as income auditor at its Brussels hotel. Three years ago he moved to France to oversee the conversion of the Radisson SAS Montfleury Hotel in Cannes. In 1999, he returned to Belgium as Executive Assistant Manager, with responsibilities including work for the chain’s take over of the Radisson SAS Hotel, Antwerpen. He arrived in Jordan from Holland, where he was General Manager of the Radisson SAS Hotel, Amsterdam Airport.  

 

Radisson SAS Hotels & Resorts currently operates Middle and Near East properties in Amman, Aqaba, Baku, Istanbul, Kuwait, Manama, Muscat and Sharm El Sheikh. Three more properties in Hurghada, Taba and Al Quesir in Egypt are due on-line soon.
