ALBAWABA - Apple is reportedly going to introduce new AirPods with infrared sensors in order to enhance spatial experiences with the Vision Pro headset, according to analyst and seasoned Apple insider Ming-Chi Kuo.

Apple intends to begin mass-producing the redesigned AirPods with built-in infrared camera modules, which seem to be comparable to the Face ID sensor on the iPhone by 2026 with the goal of integrating the wireless headphones with Apple’s Vision Pro and future releases of headset.

Using the new AirPods, for instance, Kuo notes that users may have their spatial audio or computing experience improved by highlighting the sound origin in a particular direction when they tilt their heads and look in that way while viewing a video with Vision Pro.

Furthermore, the report states that the infrared camera in AirPods will have the capability to detect changes to the surrounding environment, which might possibly enable gesture control while in the air, therefore “enhance human-device interaction.”

When it comes to the supplier of the infrared camera that might be utilized with the new AirPods, Kuo mentions that Foxconn is the new product introduction (NPI) provider, adding that there is capacity of around 10 million pairs of AirPods in Foxconn’s annual plan, which is estimated to be between 18 and 20 million units of cameras.
