ALBAWABA - Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced on Wednesday his approval of the gas deal with Egypt.

Netanyahu said that he had engaged in difficult discussions to pass this deal, which he described as the largest in Israel's history and a national project and a future for coming generations.

Israel's prime minister also explained that the gas deal with Egypt is of paramount importance on both the economic and political levels.

In the same context, Israeli Energy Minister Eli Cohen confirmed that negotiations regarding the deal were difficult and lasted for months before an agreement was reached.

The $35 billion Israeli-Egyptian gas deal, which is scheduled to run until 2040, has returned to the spotlight in the past few days, after having been previously frozen by an Israeli decision to ensure Tel Aviv's interests and obtain fair prices.
