Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, Executive Chairman Nakheel, spoke on 15th July 2005 at the "Go to Dubai Conference" in Perugia about how Dubai was the "natural choice" for companies looking to invest in the region.
The "Go to Dubai" Conference is part of a three date event culminating in the "Nakheel Cuore Verde Endurance Cup 2005" – one of the biggest endurance horse races of the season, and in which Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem is representing the UAE team. The event is sponsored by Nakheel and was opened by the Endurance Grand Gala on July 14th, held under the patronage of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and UAE Minister of Defence, and was attended by more than 500 VIPs including executives of top Umbria and Italian companies, and politicians.
The "Go to Dubai" conference promoted Dubai as a leading destination for business and investment, and follows on from the success of the UAE-Italy Economic Partnership Forum held in Milan in June 2005, which was attended by more than 2,000 Italian businessmen. Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem presented on "Investment Opportunities in Dubai" to leading Italian businessmen and investors about the great strides Dubai's economy was making.
Sultan commented, "Italy is the UAE's fourth biggest trading partner with more than 2.3 billion euros total trade in 2004, and there are already 86 Italian companies operating in the region across a huge variety of sectors. Dubai's economy is very healthy at the moment. The UAE is one of the world's safest investment destinations, and Dubai the most successful.
"Its geographical proximity to the talent and markets of the Middle East, Africa and Asia, combined with its tax free environment, sophisticated infrastructure and internationally acclaimed IT, media, manufacturing, trade and financial freezones, make Dubai the natural choice for companies looking to invest in the region."
