Nakheel’s International City project, located in the Al Warsan area of Dubai, is progressing on schedule, with 100 per cent of infrastructure work now complete. The property developer also confirmed that over 75 per cent of buildings at the development will be delivered to customers by November 2006, with the remainder scheduled for completion by 2007.
The completed infrastructure consists of roads around and within the development, street lighting, electricity, water, sewage and health facilities.
Rashid Obaid Al Helli, General Manager, International City, said “We are truly pleased with the construction progress at International City. Despite the scale of the project, the various stages of construction on the 800 hectare site have been progressing smoothly and investors can be assured of the timely completion and delivery of International City. The completion of infrastructure work only facilitates the construction activity making us well positioned to meet our schedule of delivering the first units at the end of this year.”
Due to the uniqueness of its offerings, International City has attracted strong interest from a wide variety of local, regional and international investors, including leading retail outlets, multinational companies, real estate developers and regional and international commercial businesses.
“International City’s uniqueness lies in the wide range of business activities and interests and the different national themes found within the residential district. The idea behind this pre-designed complex is to offer visitors a chance to enjoy the diverse cultures of the countries that inspired these themes with their different architectural, lingual and culinary specialties,” added Al Helli.
International City consists of five main districts, namely – Central District, Residential District, Lake District, Dragon Mart Complex and the Forbidden City. The development will also encompass three schools, several entertainment facilities and outdoor theatres. The residential area will host a range of commercial shops, restaurants, medical centres, a post office, police station, two civil defence units and transportation services, thereby providing a high standard of living and utmost convenience for the residents.
