ALBAWABA – DOGE, the Department of Government Efficiency, an initiative of the second Donald Trump administration and Elon Musk’s administration, has announced a reduction of approximately $420 million in NASA’s budget within one week. NASA is the independent US federal agency responsible for the country’s civil space program, aeronautics research, and space exploration.

NASA’s budget reduced by almost $420 million

DOGE, headed by American businessman Elon Musk, announced that it will reduce NASA's overall budget by approximately $420 million.

DOGE previously announced its progress within NASA, stating that it had eliminated about 80% of unnecessary contracts, totaling approximately $420 million.

It is worth noting that DOGE was established by US President Donald Trump with the,aim of cutting unnecessary spending and restructuring federal agencies.

“We will close NASA's Office of Technology, Policy, and Strategy, the Office of the Chief Scientist, and the Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility branch in the Office of Diversity and Equal Opportunity, along with reducing their workforce,” said Janet Petro, Acting Administrator.
