The section of transportation at the Confederation Generale des Enterprises du Maroc CGEM (Morocco's largest private sector business association with close to 2,000 members), announced recently that starting from June, public transport of goods tariffs in Morocco will be increased by eight percent.
The president of CGEM, Mr. Abdelillah Hifdi, explained that the organization's decision to hike freight tariffs was made due to a recent rise in prices of fuels. Yabiladi reports that that Mr. Abdelillah Hifdi stressed that this hike is actually a mere "adjustment of prices" since it is not possible that the conveyors will "subsidize the other sectors of the economy."
