Steel output for the Middle East region increased by 7.5 percent in September year-to-date (YTD) and by an estimated six percent compared to September 2002, reported the International Iron and Steel Institute (IISI).
Production in the region remained steady at an estimated 1.1 million metric tons in September. Iran remains the largest producer in the region with estimated production of 685,000 metric tons during the same period.
World crude steel production for the 63 countries reporting to the IISI stood at an estimated 78.1 million metric tons for September. Global production increased by 3.7 percent compared to September 2002 and by 7.1 percent YTD. — (menareport.com)
