In Bahrain, bids are being invited for a mega infrastructure project to construct a flyover and tunnel at Isa Town Gate's three-lane junction. The project is set to be completed within 30 to 36 months, the GDN reported.
The Isa Town Gate junction is one of the most congested in the kingdom with an estimated 6,200 vehicles use it during morning rush hours. Additionally, statistics indicate that 44,000 vehicles use Shaikh Salman Highway heading towards the junction.
According to the project technical designs, two two-lane 900 metre-flyovers will be built to divert the traffic heading from the capital to Al Estiqlal Highway via Shaikh Salman Highway. An 800m-two-way tunnel diverting the traffic from Al Ali to Manama will also be constructed.
