US-based Maytag Aircraft Corporation has received a two million dollar contract extension for providing air terminal and ground handling services at Al-Mubarek Air Base at the Kuwait City International Airport. The agreement has been extended for an additional six months.
As part of the contract extension, Maytag Aircraft will continue to provide ground handling and air terminal services, including aircraft loading and unloading, cargo screening, passenger processing, baggage handling, security screening and the handling of classified information.
Maytag Aircraft Corporation has held this strategic Kuwait contract in support of US Government aircraft on behalf of the Air Mobility Command since 2000. The contract extension comes on the heels of a massive US military build-up in Kuwait, which began shortly after the events of September 11, 2001 and continues to support military operations in the region.
Al-Mubarek Air Base, located at the Kuwait International Airport, is one of the most strategic US military bases in the Middle East and serves as the hub for air cargo distribution to the region's military bases as well as supporting logistics operations for the security of Afghanistan and the war against terrorism.
Maytag Aircraft Corporation is a US Government services contractor, providing operations and maintenance services ranging from aircraft refueling and air terminal and ground handling to base operating support and weather observation and forecasting at multiple international and domestic locations. — (menareport.com)
