Marks & Spencer in Dubai has been chosen as one of eight international locations for the launch of the new contemporary and classic collection ‘per una’ on October 17. The clothing range was rolled out in 50 selected stores in the UK on September 28, 2001.
George Davies, the designer and manufacturer of the brand, has been exclusively signed up by Marks & Spencer. Davies sold his range, George at Asda, to the US Walmart company, in November 2000.
“per una—meaning ‘for one woman’—features the highest quality materials, limited-edition designs inspired by the very latest trends, and fanatical attention to detail,” Davies said.
In 1998, the UK retail giant Marks & Spencer opened its first outlet in the Arab world, a two story, 2,700 square meter store located in Deira, Dubai. Marks & Spencer is a franchise operation of Al-Futtaim Sons in the Gulf, including UAE, Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar and Oman.
Marketing Director of Al-Futtaim Sons Abubakr Al-Futtaim said “We are delighted that Dubai has been chosen as one of the few international locations for the launch of per una, which shows the importance of Dubai as a market for fashion globally. We are also confident that the Dubai customer, who is both fashion and value conscious, will receive the new range extremely well.” — (Mena Report)
