The Libyan government may be funding suicide attacks on the US-led occupying Coalition Provisional Authority (CPA) in Iraq.
According to a joint Scotland Yard and FBI inquiry, American Muslim activist Abdurahman Alamoudi had been commissioned to transfer some $340,000 of Libyan funds to Islamic resistance activists in Syria, reported Sunday Times.
Customs officers searched Alamoudi at London’s Heathrow Airport this past August and found $340,000 in cash in one of his suitcases. According to American documents, the money originated from Libya and police suspect Alamoudi planned to hand the money over to Al-Qaeda or Hamas activists once he reached his final destination, Syria.
Alamoudi told Scotland Yard detectives that he received the money from a charity set up by the Libyan government to fund Muslim causes. The organization has been linked with funding terrorism by the United States government.
Although the money was seized, Alamoudi, president of the American Moslem Foundation, was released and continued on his trip to Syria. He was detained when he returned to Dulles Aiport, Washington, at the end of September and is being held on money-laundering charges.
Libya has been classified by the US administration as an “axis of evil” state because it develops weapons of mass destruction and is seeking to obtain chemical or biological weapons. — (menareport.com)
