According to latest statistics from the Lebanese ministry of economy and trade’s technical center for pricing policies, average prices of consumer and food goods, based on a typical consumer basket, decreased 0.76 percent in September compared to the base date in December 1999.
Vegetable prices accounted for most of the decrease by dropping 7.28 percent, while grain products and oil derivatives dropped on average 2.03 percent and 5.02 percent respectively between December 1999 and September.
These drops were partly offset by the significant increase in fruit prices, going up 18.92 percent. Food and beverage prices increased by 9.12 percent, while milk and household consumption products went up 2.11 percent and 0.97 percent respectively on average during the period. ¯ ( Banque du Liban et d'Outre-Mer Sal )
