At least two Gulf countries may purchase more Hawk advanced jet trainer aircraft, and others will be upgrading existing Hawks, an official said Monday.

"Two Gulf countries are interested in adding more Hawks. We are in talks. There are also opportunities for upgrades and modifications of existing Hawks," Simon Keith, managing director Middle East for BAE Systems, told Gulf News.

In the meantime, BAE Systems will shortly set up a joint venture company in Abu Dhabi with the Gulf Aircraft Maintenance Co (Gamco) to service the UAE's Hawks and possibly other Hawks in the region.
