Jumbo Electronics to market Thuraya phones

Jumbo Electronics and the Thuraya Satellite Telecommunications Company recently signed an agreement for Jumbo to market Thuraya phones in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The agreement will further strengthen the geographical spread of the satellite phones, as the cellular units from Thuraya will integrate satellite, GSM and GPS technologies in one handset, stated a press release.  

 

Thuraya phones will reach 99 countries, across Europe, North and Central Africa, Middle East, Central Asia and the Indian sub continent. The company has 80 partners in three continents enabling wider coverage outside the footprint area. 

 

The Jumbo Group was founded in the United Arab Emirates in 1974, its presence encompassing all seven Emirates. The company is one of the largest distributors of Sony products in the world. The international industrial and trading conglomerate comprises 28 companies and 20,000 employees in over 25 states. The interests of the Jumbo Group include consumer electronics and durables, tires and tubes, brewing and distilling products, chemicals,
