Syrian Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa Miro arrived in Amman Sunday and immediately met with Jordan's King Abdullah II, a palace source stated on Sunday October 7. The talks centered on the recent international and regional developments, as well as bilateral relations, the source said.
Miro and his Jordanian counterpart, Ali Abu Ragheb, are to jointly chair meetings of the Jordanian-Syrian high commission, Sunday and Monday, aimed at reinforcing bilateral cooperation.
At the end of these meetings, Amman and Damascus are due to sign a free trade deal to replace their 1975 trade convention, which is considered "incompatible" with the new trade laws and requirements of the World Trade Organization (WTO), which Jordan joined in 2000.
More than 10 other bilateral cooperation deals in various fields will also be signed during the meetings of the high commission, according to a Jordanian official. After several years of tension, relations between Jordan and Syrian have improved
