Official statistics released by the Jordanian Ministry of Industry and Commerce show that the Jordanian trade balance deficit with the European Union increased by 400,000 Jordanian Dinars ($564,000) in 2001, reported Al-Rai. The Jordanian trade balance deficit with Europe amounted to 57.4 percent of the total Jordanian foreign trade balance deficit in 2001 compared with 54.3 percent in 2000.
