Egypt’s Electricity Holding Company and a Japanese consortium recently signed a contract for the design, supply and installation of gas turbine for the North Cairo Electricity Plant project, reported Al-Alam Al-Yaum. The project aims to satisfy the demand for electricity in the unified power system in Egypt by installing a new combined cycle power plant having an approximate 750-mega watt capacity.
The Egyptian Electricity Holding Company includes seven electricity companies, each with power stations and distribution lines. Further plans include separating production from distribution, so that distribution companies covering some portions of the grid can be offered for sale. — (menareport.com)
