Italy's Saipem awarded a sea-drilling contract in Egypt

Oil services company Saipem SpA, a unit of Italian oil and gas company Eni SpA, has been awarded a sea-drilling contract in Egypt. Under the recently signed agreement, Saipem will use a jackup at the request of Petrobel in offshore Egypt. The contract will be up at the end of 2004.  

 

Egypt's second largest producer is Italian Eni's Egyptian subsidiary, Petrobel, which produces around 290,000 bbl/d in a joint venture with Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation (EGPC). Petrobel is active mainly in the Gulf of Suez and Sinai. — (menareport.com)
