According to statistics published Wednesday by the Israel Export Institute (IEI), so far in 2005, there is an overall increase of 8.3 percent in exports, totaling $42 million, to Arab states compared with last year. The figures indicate growing sales of Israeli products to Jordan.
In the first quarter of 2005, Israel transported $29 million worth of goods to Jordan.
Israeli products are finding their way also to Iraq, where the clients are the Americans. In the first quarter of this year exports to Iraq reached $220,000, while in 2004, the total annual exports was some $5 million.
Israeli exports to Egypt rose by 72% in the first quarter of 2005 with a total of $1.7 million compared to the same period last year. This rise is due to the Egyptian - Israeli QIZ contract which was signed late last year with the US.
