The Israeli government recorded a total deficit of 600,000 Israeli shekels ($132,816) for total operations in October 2003, according to a press release. The deficit in the domestic operations of the government, excluding net credit granted, reached NIS 200 million in October, pushing the cumulative deficit to NIS 19.4 billion since the beginning of the year.
State revenues from taxes for the month amounted to NIS 12.5 billion. According to preliminary estimates prepared by the State Revenues Administration, the revenues from taxes, levies and fees amounted to NIS 12.5 billion in October 2003, up seven percent in real terms from the corresponding month last year.
In terms of uniform tax rates, tax collection in October 2003 was also up by a similar seven percent in real terms, as compared with the corresponding month last year.
State revenues from taxes amounted to NIS 119.8 billion since the beginning of 2003, down four percent in real terms as compared with the corresponding period last year. On a uniform collection basis, a real-term decrease of 3.5 percent was recorded. — (menareport.com)
