The Iraqi Ministry of Oil has invited bids from top construction firms for a joint Jordanian oil pipeline project following the completion of the prequalifying process.
The ministry said the pipeline inside Iraq will be installed according to the engineering, procurement, construction, and financing contract (EPCF) model, while in Jordan it will be executed under the build–own–operate–transfer (BOOT) system, reported The Jordan Times, citing a senior Iraqi Ministry of Oil statement.
Phase One of the project will see the installation of a 700-km-long pipeline with a capacity of 2.25 million barrels within the Iraqi territories (Rmeilah-Haditha),
Phase Two involves the construction of a 900-km pipeline in Jordan between Haditha and Aqaba with a capacity of one million barrels, it stated.
Iraqi Deputy Prime Minister for Energy and Minister of Oil Thamir Ghadhban said the ministry had earlier formed a team to prepare legal contracts, address financial issues and oversee technical standards for implementing the project, said the report.
The deadline for submitting the bids has been set in May and the winning bidder will be announced by the end of 2020, it stated.
The ministry will then review the offers and select the company that will "be instrumental in serving the public interest and achieving the ministry's goals", it added.
