Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei has outlined the general policies of a program to improve the country’s healthcare system.

The 14-article statement, which was released after consultation with the Expediency Council, was sent to the heads of the three branches of government on Monday.
 
In the statement, the Leader emphasized that disease prevention should be prioritized over treatment and efforts should be made to improve the healthcare system in all its forms.
 
He also called for efforts to enhance the society’s mental health and promote an Iranian and Islamic lifestyle.
 
The Leader further noted that measures should be taken to provide the masses with food security in which all people could have access to sufficient and high quality foodstffs, clean air and water, and outdoor fitness equipment.   
 
Ayatollah Khamenei also touched upon health insurance, urging the officials to take measures to expand health insurance, both in terms of quality and coverage.
He further noted that the government should pay subsidies to the country’s health sector so that the unprivileged could enjoy better healthcare.
