Iran Air recently resumed its weekly non-stop flight to the Berlin Tegel Airport, which were cancelled following the September 11 attacks on the United States. The renewed Monday flight is scheduled only on a provisional basis until mid-September but could be further extended, reported IRNA. The airline also added route to Hamburg and Frankfurt to its schedule.
The Iranian Transport Ministry allocated $500 million from this year’s budget for the much-needed modernization of the national carrier’s ageing fleet, currently consisting of 20 Tupolev and Yak airliners leased from former Soviet states, as well as 10 Boeing jets procured before the 1979 Islamic Revolution. — (menareport.com)
