Some 13,000 foreign tourists visited the ancient city of Isfahan, capital of central province of Isfahan, since the outset of the Iranian year (started on March 21, 2005), a local tourism official said here Sunday.

Official of the provincial Cultural Heritage statistics office, Armaghan Vosouqi, told IRNA that they visited famous historical sites of Isfahan and its suburbs, including Chehel Sotoon, Aali Qapou, the Imam's Mosque, Menar Jomban and Hasht Behesht Palace.

Noting that the number of the tourists who had visited the province last year was almost 42,000, Vosouqi said that some 12,000 of the total number had come from Germany, France and Saudi Arabia. He added that Arab tourists prefer to visit Isfahan in summer while tourists of other countries visit the province in spring.
