ALBAWABA – The International Energy Agency (IEA), a Paris-based autonomous intergovernmental organization established in 1974 that provides policy recommendations, analysis, and data on the global energy sector, warned of a potential soon global gas crisis as winter approaches.

The International Energy Agency (IEA) warned of a potential global gas crisis driven by increased demand for gas supplies and ongoing geopolitical tensions worldwide.

According to a recent report issued by the agency, the continuous rise in global gas consumption and geopolitical tensions could possibly complicate gas supplies as winter approaches.

These warnings are further supported by the increase in gas demands in the coming years, which will place additional pressure on the market.

It is worth noting that the IEA’s recent report also stated that global gas demand is expected to increase by approximately more than 2.5% this year, reaching a record level of 4,200 billion cubic meters.

The agency anticipates that this increase will continue, with an additional increase of 2.3% by 2025.

The agency concluded the report with several recommendations that stresses on the need to enhance flexibility in gas and liquefied natural gas (LNG) value chains to ensure stable gas supplies and avoid potential crises in the near future.
