Intel Monday announced that Semir Al-Schamma has been appointed to the Intel management team as General Manager of Intel’s GCC operations. Al-Shamma will be working closely with fellow travellers and channel members to help support the company’s business and help strengthen the growth of the Information Technology sector as a whole in the region.

Al Shamma started with Intel in 1990 as a validation engineer in the company’s Santa Clara headquarters. Before moving to the GCC in his new role, he managed Intel’s Software Enabling Programme in Europe, Middle East and Africa, where he was instrumental in forming and leading the team that supports over 25,000 software developers throughout the region.

Al-Schamma grew up in Riyadh, in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and was among the first graduates from the College of Computer and Information Sciences in 1987.
