Communications Network Inmarsat has announced that its regional BGAN solution has been extended to support Virtual Private Networks (VPN), allowing mobile users to establish high-speed, secure access to corporate networks through VPN products.

Inmarsat also announced that Regional BGAN now supports the H.323 standard for videoconferencing and IP telephony, expanding its ability to deliver enterprise communications, and is now easier to configure for Apple Mac users and those using older Microsoft Windows operating systems.

These improvements have been made as a result of Inmarsat's program of consultation with its user community and in response to evolving market requirements. VPNs have emerged as a key component of the modern mobile enterprise, with increasingly flexible and remote working driving demand for secure access to corporate networks in any place and at any time.

Inmarsat is a subsidiary of Inmarsat Ventures. Inmarsat owns and operates a global mobile satellite network and delivers its communications solutions through a worldwide network of approximately 260 distributors and other service providers operating in over 80 countries to end users in the maritime, land and aeronautical sectors. At the end of May 2003, approximately 275,000 terminals were registered to access Inmarsat's services. — (menareport.com)
