The United Arab Emirates (UAE)’s Dolphin Energy (DEL) has selected India’s Dodsal Construction Company to carry out the engineering, procurement, construction, testing and commissioning of Al-Ain-Fujairah gas pipeline. Valued at 202 million Emirati dirhams, the project has a target date of completion set for December 2002.

The 180-kilometer pipeline will transport approximately 360 million cubic feet natural gas a day from Al-Ain to Qidfa in Fujairah. The transported gas will service a power generation plant and water desalination facilities.

DEL is a joint venture energy company set up by the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Offsets Group (UOG), which holds the majority 51 percent stake in it. TotalFinaElf of France, and the US’ Occidental Petroleum Corporation own 24.5 percent each. The company is working on developing an integrated gas network in the UAE by sourcing gas, primarily from Qatar’s North Field, to meet the rising demand from power generation and water desalination plants. — (menareport.com)
