The IMF gave a favorable report on the Tunisian economy Monday and said this is a perfect opportunity to speed reform further, particularly in the agricultural sector. The comments were made in the IMF annual report on Tunisia.
GDP grew by an average 5.6% in 2003, and should grow by 5.6% in 2004. The IMF indicated that Tunisia's major challenge is reaching income levels of OECD countries and reducing the still high unemployment rates. The IMF said this can only be achieved by making conditions more favorable for foreign investment and prioritizing reforms. (menareport.com)
