InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) has signed a deal with UAE conglomerate Al-Futtaim to manage the country’s largest Holiday Inn at Dubai Festival City.

The 520-key hotel will join the existing InterContinental and Crowne Plaza properties in the waterfront community and is designed to cater to a family audience.

Features will include an adjoining café and restaurant, rooftop grill, health club, four meeting rooms, a 200-person capacity conference centre.

“We’re thrilled to be expanding our partnership with an eminent corporation like Al-Futtaim and this new hotel compliments the existing luxury and upscale offerings at Dubai Festival City perfectly,” said IHG chief operating officer for IMEA Pascal Gauvin.

“This signing is pivotal to IHG’s growth plans in the region as there is growing demand for mid-market hotels in the UAE, especially in Dubai.”

The hotel will connect directly to Dubai Festival City Mall with access to the nearby 5,000 square metre arena launched by the two companies at the Al Badia residential area.

It is expected to be completed towards the end of next year.

IHG has 78 hotels in the Middle East and 26 under development.

The Holiday Inn Dubai Festival City is the sixth hotel deal between IHG and Al-Futtaim
