Hotel brand Hilton International has signed a 15-year management contract to open and operate a new hotel in Doha, Qatar. The 320-room property will be the first Hilton hotel in the country and will be operated on behalf of the New Doha Hotel Company, stated a press release. The opening of Hilton Doha is scheduled for December 2005.
Hilton had earlier signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with New Doha Hotel Company on behalf of the hotel’s owner and Managing Director and partner, Nadir Badruddin to build the $60 million development in the upmarket Al-Dafnah district. The development team consists of Hamarain Project Management (HPM), Crang and Boake and Sabex Engineering.
Hilton Doha will comprise two floors of public areas together with a 20-floor guestroom tower, with all guestrooms featuring sea views of the Gulf. The hotel’s facilities will include a conference wing with meeting rooms and a ballroom, three restaurants, extensive leisure, fitness, recreation facilities and underground parking.
In the past three years, Hilton’s property portfolio has expanded considerably, with the opening of five new hotels in the Arabian Peninsula, plus the acquisition of Makkah Towers. The group currently operates 18 hotels in Egypt, eight hotels in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), three in Saudi Arabia and one each in Bahrain, Oman and Kuwait. — (menareport.com)
