Qatar’s Doha Insurance Company recently signed an agreement with Dubai's Gulf Warranties to provide an extended warranty policy to vehicles, which provides coverage against all electrical and mechanical problems, stated a press release. Extended warranty applies in the entire Gulf region, which means a Qatari registered vehicle under the coverage can put in claims in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) or in Saudi Arabia and have them processed within a day or so.

The extended warranty will be provided only to new vehicles initially in Qatar, while coverage for used vehicles will be offered later. Basic coverage that takes care of ordinary electrical and mechanical problems and superior coverage, which provides warranty against major snags like those affecting air conditioners, are available.

The warranty is a product significantly different from the ordinary motor vehicle insurance, taking effect once the coverage provided to new vehicles by the dealers' ends. The extended warranty does not cover accidents or mishaps such as fire as motor insurance does.

Gulf Warranties offers used vehicle and extended cover policies for automobiles Gulf-wide, through a network of five national insurance companies which offers services to its clients, including the ability to keep all underwriting premiums onshore. Gulf Warranties has provided extended warranty to some 200,000 vehicles, since the firm was established in 1994. As many as 70,000 claims totalling $20 million have already been settled. — (menareport.com)
