ALBAWABA - The fundraising platform has revealed its decision to keep the $355 million campaign for Trump intact despite netizens calling for boycotting the platform
GoFundMe has announced its decision to keep the $355 million campaign for Donald Trump intact. The controversial fundraiser was set up shortly after Judge Arthur Engoron's verdict in the New York fraud trial, which ordered the ex-POTUS to pay a hefty penalty. So far, the campaign has raised $710,761 out of the goal amount, igniting boycott calls for GoFundMe on social media.
In an attempt to defray the costs of legal defense resulting from fraud charges, former President Donald Trump has initiated a fundraising campaign in the United States.
According to sources from The Hill, entrepreneur and investor Grant Cardone's wife, Elena Cardone, has led the initiative and is using the well-known website "GoFundMe.com" to mobilize donations for Trump's legal defense fund.
Elena Cardone expressed support for Trump and noted that the former president's legal struggles are more than just personal; rather, they pose a larger threat to the nation's values of fairness and impartial legal procedures.
In a complaint alleging that Trump demonstrated more than $3.6 billion in wealth for his three children and his company, New York Attorney General Letitia James called on the judge to impose a five-year ban on Trump and his children's ability to launch businesses in the state and purchase commercial real estate, in addition to $370 million in fines.
In the case of "decades of fraud in the real estate sector," Judge Arthur Engoron had ordered the trial of charges that the former President Trump and his business, the "Trump Organization," had defrauded banks, insurers, and businessmen by inflating their net worth and overvaluing their assets in financing documents and contracts.
In a 35-page settlement, Engoron claimed that by repeatedly misrepresenting their annual financial status, Trump, his business, and its executives had been able to secure loans with favorable conditions and cheap insurance premiums.
