The Global Village, the international attraction of the Dubai Shopping Festival, will next year feature more country pavilions than ever before.

Some 38 countries will participate with pavilions at the month-long event, which is being hosted for the third year in a row by Dubai Festival City, the waterfront ‘city-within-a-city’ being built on the banks of Dubai Creek.

Pavilion newcomers include South Africa, Germany, Italy, Bahrain, Brazil, Bulgaria, Malaysia, Russia and Ukraine. Regular Global Village participants say they are returning to the event to capitalise on its cultural and family appeal.

During the Dubai Shopping Festival, which next year runs from January 15 to February 15, 2004, the Global Village is transformed into a tourism destination. In the heart of downtown Dubai, the Village is a partnership production between Dubai Festival City and the Dubai Shopping Festival Committee.
